Webair announces that it has once again successfully completed an SSAE 16 Type 2 examination, formally known as a Report on Controls at a Service Organization (SOC 1) at its NY1 data center. This year-long review spanning from October 1, 2015 to September 30, 2016 was prepared by independent CPA firm, Schellman & Company, Inc.
Since day one, Webair has been dedicated to providing reliable and secure cloud hosting, colocation and managed solutions designed to serve clients’ individual needs. Achieving 100 percent compliance with no exceptions, this year’s SSAE 16 re-certification of its NY1 facility further validates the company’s commitment to exemplary service and its ability to effectively support global customers’ business environments with the highest levels of security and availability.
SSAE 16, developed by the Auditing Standards Board (ASB) of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), replaces SAS 70, which was the standard used for reviewing service organization control processes for nearly two decades.
During this examination, Schellman & Company performed extensive testing of control activities and effectiveness with a full assessment of physical security, operations and customer service, development and information technology organization, and risk assessment monitoring. Successful completion assures potential and existing clients that Webair’s policies and procedures are sound, and that critical internet services and data are fully secure.
In addition to affirming Webair’s SSAE 16 compliance, the audit included a HIPAA matrix designed to test the security and controls throughout the NY1 facility. Providing full security accountability across the physical facility and data both at rest and in-transit, Webair freely signs all HIPAA Business Associate Agreements (BAAs), ensuring the continual protection of personal health information in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.
Located on Long Island in Garden City, New York, NY1, Webair’s flagship data center, is the most secure and redundant facility east of New York City, offering the lowest latency to Europe via direct feeds to transatlantic fiber. Customers at NY1 receive a full range of managed services, cloud hosting and disaster recovery suites to meet any and every internet need.
Webair customers can request a copy of the report to assist in their own SSAE 16 audit. To learn more about Webair’s NY1 facility, visit www.webair.com/ny1/.
