“Think globally, act locally,” John Lennon once famously said. And this theme may well apply to Webair’s participation in the newly formed Tech Task Team (T3). T3 is an advisory committee comprised of technology industry leaders created by Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano with the goal to make Long Island a hub for the tech industry. Webair’s Director of Business Development, Gerard Hiner, was selected to be a part of this elite group of industry leaders.
The T3 met earlier this year for the first time, determined and optimistic about invigorating technology business on Long Island. One brand related development emerged from the new tech think tank: Long Island now has a new name, “Technology Island.” It was also decided that Long Island would host a job fair in which local businesses would seek to fill tech-related jobs.
In just eight weeks, T3 was able to put together the Technology Island Job Fair. The job fair was a success, with over 1,200 people in attendance and with numerous Long Island businesses looking to fill over 300 positions. T3 also plans to launch another event, called “Long Island Tech Day.” Ideally, T3 hopes to inspire a public-private technology environment comprised of Long Island private businesses and county officials that will foster and encourage economic growth in the area.
Webair is proud to show support for not only our customers, but also for the Long Island community. Webair is continually adapting to stay at the forefront of the technology industry and to inspire growth in the sector.
