Infrastructure service provider Webair is investing $20 million (approx. £15 million) in its New York data centre over the next four years.

The firm will carry out a number of upgrades at its Long Island facility, driven by its recent acceptance on to New York’s Empire State Development program. It has also recently received an allocation of 1MW of hydropower from local authority scheme ReCharge NY.

According to Webair, demand for low latency compliance cloud and managed hybrid infrastructure is growing. The upgrades being carried out are intended to meet this growing demand, with the installation a third generator as well as further UPS and HVAC capacity in order to support the additional 1MW of load.
